Wikipedia Dictatorship Deletes the Fail Whale
The title pretty much says it all. There is a vast, gaping hole here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fail_Whale. Actually there is just a redirect to the Twitter page on Wikipedia. The Wikidictators claim that the entry was removed because if it was promotional. Fail Whale proponents responded by rightly pointing out that:
- The Fail Whale’s existence has been cited by numerous news organizations, including the New York Times
- Wikipedia has a tradition of publishing entries for fictional characters. The biography of George Costanza is five times as long as that of Tim O’Reilly, as noted by marketing professional Seth Godin.
- Reasons 1 & 2 are enough, right? Sheesh.
